BENNINGTON — Rights and Democracy of Bennington will host a gubernatorial forum at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bennington at 7 p.m. on Friday.
All four declared candidates for the Democratic nomination — Christine Hallquist, former Vermont Electric Co-op CEO; James Ehlers, Lake Champlain International executive director; Brenda Siegel, Southern Vermont Dance Festival executive director; and Ethan Sonneborn, a Mount Abraham Union Middle School eighth-grader — have said they will attend.
Gov. Phil Scott has declined to attend, and his challenger for the Republican nomination, Keith Stern, the co-owner of Stern’s Quality Produce in White River Junction, has said he may attend, organizers said. All candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties were invited.
“This forum will give the public an opportunity to ask the questions that are most important to Bennington”, said Vickie Lampron, a RAD member. “None of us should miss this chance to find out which candidate will best serve the interests of Bennington.”
