EAI’s carbon tax stance attacked by left wing Media Matters

By David Flemming

Some folks are getting anxious that “progress” on passing carbon taxes at the state level has stalled nationwide. Media Matters, a nationwide left-wing group which got $10 million in contributions last year, decided it was time to place part of the blame on the Ethan Allen Institute:

“The Ethan Allen Institute is another Vermont-based organization opposed to carbon pricing. In February 2018, the Ethan Allen Institute published a study attacking a carbon fee proposal being considered by the legislature at the time.”

They go on to say that an analysis, “conducted by nonprofit research group Resources for the Future and released in January of this year, found that a carbon price combined with other climate policies could lower emissions without hurting the economy or low-income people.”

Contrary to that account, the analysis actually found “economically, these types of carbon pricing policy approaches are most to likely to produce small negative economic impacts ($20–$100 per person).” That $20-$100 might seem like small potatoes to an organization as well-funded as Media Matters. But to someone who is struggling to make ends meet, that lost money could very well mean fewer meals on the table.

Media Matters concluded with a remark on EAI’s insidious “collaboration”:

“In another demonstration of collaboration between Vermont’s anti-environmental groups, True North Reports hosted a policy analyst for the Ethan Allen Institute in September 2018 to discuss the findings of the institute’s latest anti-carbon-fee report published earlier that month.”

I’ve never been more proud to appear in such a video.

In the words of Margaret Thatcher, “if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.”

  1. Rob, Well done!!!!!!! You have rattled the cages of the big guys and have become a national spokesman on behalf of exposing the insanity of imposing a carbon tax. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!

  2. Rob, Great news!!!!!!!! Your doing such a great job, you have rattled the cage of the big boys and have become a national spokesman exposing the insanity of a carbon tax. Keep up the good work.

  3. EAI EAI EAI pitted against Goliath:
Media Matters Contributor list consists of
Tides, Soros, Ford, Sandler, Lear family, and Joyce Foundations..
Real people oriented at least in the leftist eyes.
Ethan Allen Institute in true Ethan Allen musket style brings on the TRUTH…
    Way to go EAI

  4. The RE entities performing analyses of carbon taxes that show everyone will be better off, have that outcome in mind when they start their analyses.

With the right assumptions that appear reasonable, they can prove they are right.

After a number of such analyses by various RE entities, there is just no question for them to think they are right.

The problem is, too many people and entities have become familiar with such fake news studies.

They have finally woken up to the threat they represent to their future well being.

Thet are successfully fighting back instead of being rolled over by RE fanatics, who are aiming to have their projects thrive on subsidies.

It has nothing to do with global warming, because Vermont is just a fly on an elephant’s rear.

  5. At last EAI is getting the attention we yearn for! I only wish Media Matters had added that thanks to EAI, the five year carbon tax drive in Vermont has succeeded in making that measure probably the most loathed in the state, aside from issues like gun control and abortion.

  6. Bravo! Should be worn like the 5 stars of a general

Next they will look into everyone’s past who is associated with EAI and TNR and publish nation wide that you should be removed from your position. It’s like clock work, have to give them credit, they stick to the script really well.

At that point you know you’ve made it, just ask Tucker Carlson, he’s their latest target.

    • Tucker had a excellent spot on Mediamatters being a non tax entity because of
the need to offset Christian Right Speech. Well now that we have msmbc, abc, cbs, nbc, npr all speaking in unison against Christian Right Speech there should be NO NEED for a mediamatters at all. So why hasn’t the IRS started taxing them if they no longer have to balance speech which they take to mean deny
speech? This is why Pres Trump can’t do much without a Justice Department that will back him up. The swamp is too deep
