The Senate Finance Committee is expected to approve H.559, the “Health Care Exchange” bill, sometime today. A full Senate vote is possible as early as Friday. Vermonters for Health Care Freedom opposes H.559 in its current form because beginning January 1, 2014 the bill will outlaw private health insurance plans offered outside the state-controlled Exchange. Vermont is the only state in the nation planning to make insurance purchases in the Exchange mandatory for individuals, small businesses and those covered by association sponsored plans. This is being required as a stepping stone to a Canadian-style single-payer health care system. For more information on H.559 view our 8 minute video HERE.
