Holding Our Political Leaders Accountable

by Mark Donka

I was completely shocked by the statement that Secretary of State Clinton gave to Senator Ron Johnson which is below.

“With all due respect, the fact is, we had four dead Americans! Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.” – Clinton shouting over Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

As a 30 year Law Enforcement Officer in the state of VT, I was appalled by this type of thinking and lack of empathy. This would be similar to me doing the following.

I went to a traffic homicide the other day where the driver hit a pedestrian and took off, leaving the pedestrian for dead.

Since the person was already dead I didn’t bother to investigate because, well, they were already dead. What difference does it make? I’ll just look into how to make the crosswalk safer.

The above is only an analogy but think of how ridiculous it is. I wonder how long I would have a job as a Police officer if I did this. Not long I can assure you, as Law enforcement officers we are held accountable. So tell me why the Government isn’t held accountable?

Prior to the above miscarriage of justice we had the Fast and Furious Government program. This was started by the ATF somewhere around September 2009 under President Obama’s watch. This all began as a way to somehow track weapons purchased in the United States that then ended up in Mexican drug cartels hands. From what I have been able to research at least 650 guns where purchased during this Government Operation.

On December 14,2010 during a shoot out in Rio Rico AZ US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered. During the investigation that followed 2 AK 47 type weapons where recovered. One of those guns had killed Agent Terry.

The investigation that followed brought to light that the ATF had been involved in this program of “Straw Purchases”. During the investigation the US Attorney General Eric Holder denied having any knowledge of this program. He was ultimately protected by President Obama who used Executive Privilege to shield him.

Congress asked for the documents then only received part of them. Attorney General Holder was held in contempt of Congress and still we did not get the truth as to what happened.

As a Law Enforcement Officer this hits very close to home. A brave Border Patrol Agent is murdered but we the American people are kept in the dark.

Doesn’t the Family of Agent Brian Terry deserve answers as to what happened? When Brian Terry’s Mother was asked by Congress what she would say to the people responsible she paused and said “what would they say to me”. Shouldn’t someone in the Government be held accountable? This was a Government Operation.

These are questions that need to be asked and Answered!

But like Secretary Clinton it seems the Government would rather bury their heads in the sand. Hoping if enough time passes (we) the American will forget.

5 Brave Americans are dead and we must NEVER FORGET. If we don’t question these types of incidents(crimes) it is as though we are condoning these action by our Government. I can not let the Government forget about these hero’s CAN YOU?

I ran for Congress in 2012 because our Government needs to be held accountable to the people they serve. Something our Politicians in Washington have forgotten.
