As you know the Vermont House, by a narrow margin, passed an Oregon style assisted suicide bill earlier this week. The Senate will take up the House version next Tuesday, and there are several options the Senators will weigh to determine the fate of S.77. Our message has been that we do not support an Oregon style bill that allows a physician to prescribe a lethal dose of medication to a terminally ill patient.
We need your help to bring this message home loud and clear to the members of the Senate. They voted no once before and we are urging them to vote down the House version. Please contact your Senators this weekend or at the Statehouse next week. You can call the Sargeant at Arms Office and leave a message for your Senator, saying that you do not support an Oregon style bill, and you urge the Senators to vote likewise. The number is:
Sergeant at Arms
Patient Choices has been flooding the Statehouse with calls in support of an Oregon style bill; so your call is very important.
Thank you again for all your help. I will keep you posted on any developments as they occur.
