Letters 11 – 30 – 2011

Obamanomics is a failure

President Obama promised fundamental reform when elected. However, his economic leadership has been disastrous and no recovery is evident since taking office. Obama, through borrowing trillions, is driving us to bankruptcy and poverty. He’s pursuing tax policies that are socialistic and create more dependency on government, increase poverty and destroy incentive to achieve self-sufficiency.

Unemployment for blacks is 16%, teenagers 24%, black teenagers 40%, and total unemployment/underemployment is 17%. There are 7 million fewer jobs today than when the recession started.

President Obama has refused to renew the Bush tax cuts. That means someone earning $100,000 will pay $2,000 more; capital gains swell 60%, corporate dividend taxes increase 3X, Medicare payroll tax goes up 63% and low income tax rates rise 50%.

These job killing tax policies, supported also by Senators Leahy, Sanders and Representative Welch and other Democrats, will kill small businesses, job creators, and investors. Yet, there’s no relief from Obama just talk.

Obama supports increased electric rates and gas prices to promote a green agenda. They’re increasing regulatory burdens which are costing $2 trillion annually. This appeases the greenies but will stifle our economy and employment.

Obamanomics, with its near zero interest rates, printing presses money and stimulus spending hasn’t reduced unemployment or strengthened the economy. With the a $15 trillion deficit, increased taxes, soaring energy costs, excessive regulations and senseless monetary policy there’s little hope prosperity will return soon.

The only way to reverse this death spiral is to reverse Obamanomics. Vote change in November, 2012.

Special kudos for November 23 edition

While I always enjoy True North Reports, the Wednesday November 23rd issue was ‘off the charts” wonderful.

I especially enjoyed reading Kevin Ryan’s piece about OWS in Burlington, as an example of unbiased journalism; Katie Banfield’s interview with an owner of a small insuance firm was a fantastic expose on the likely consequences of Green Mountain Care; and Katie Earle’s piece is a hint of what the next generation will discover about how the current political environment will change their world.

Lastly, I would not have known that Congressman Peter Welch voted agains the balanced budget amendment if I have not read it in your pages…Keep up the good work!
