Lt. Gov. Scott airs concerns over single payer health care bill

by Rob Roper

In an interview on Common Sense Radio, Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott raised some serious concerns regarding the single payer health care legislation currently working its way through the Vermont House.

“If we get this wrong,” Scott warned, “it could be catastrophic for our economy, and I think we have to slow down and think about what we’re doing…. There’s a couple of lines in the sand for me. One is I truly believe we need to talk about how we’re going to finance this – how we’re going to pay for it…. I don’t think we should develop the structure without talking about the costs and the payment terms. The other is… I would hate to see exemptions for large companies and so forth that could opt out of this, and leave the rest of us small businesses there to fund this.”
