Mass. high school students becoming porn aficionados with help from teachers

By Rob Shimshock

High school students in Boston, Mass., are attending porn literacy classes where they learn about the portrayal of gender, race, sexuality, etc. in pornography.

Peer leadership initiative Start Strong teaches the class of around two dozen Boston high school students each year, reported The New York Times. Start Strong is funded by Boston’s public health agency.

Students learn about sexuality, aggression, gender, queer sex, race, body image, and consent as they relate to porn for two hours a week for five weeks in The Truth about Pornography: A Pornography-Literacy Curriculum for High School Students Designed to Reduce Sexual and Dating Violence. Curriculum on dating violence, positive relationships, and LGBT affairs make up the rest of the year-long course.

The class makes use of group talks and role-playing to teach sex-related subjects. Meanwhile, Start Strong, the organization teaching it, bills itself as a program dedicated to ending abusive relationships.

“Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships (Start Strong) is a program of the Division of Violence Prevention aimed at working with young people as the solution to ending teen dating violence,” says its site description. “Start Strong is an innovative grass-roots effort focused on 11- to- 18-year-olds to prevent teen dating violence and abuse by actively promoting healthy relationships.”

The site also offers documents with specific tips regarding cell phone reception during breakups and top ten lists of “healthy” and “unhealthy” relationship songs.

  1. Well , you let these loony liberals into our schools what do you expect !! what ever happened to the basic three R’s ……………not porn .

So if my kids were in school today , there would be hell to pay with this bunch , heads would roll !!

  2. IDK about how they are using it regards gender identity etc… I do know from observing and listening to kids while coaching at high school level that they get far too much of the sex education from online porn which is way too accessible to them. That has caused many of them to have some wildly and badly skewed ideas about sex and relationships. So if this course is to make it clear to them that what they see in porn is not the norm, then it is necessary and needed. Could not really get a read on it from your story your title and the content are incongruent, and you did not really get into exactly the curriculum is. Are they telling them porn is OK and reality, or are they explaining this stuff is fantastical or potentially abnormal portrayal of sexuality??

  3. I give up!!!! You just can’t make this stuff up!!! The liberals have totally lost their minds and gone into hyperdrive in an effort to destroy everything good, decent, traditional, or normal. As America’s children fall further and further behind the rest of the industrialized world in academics our schools go to greater and greater lengths to corrupt our children and indoctrinate them in their sick and perverted culture. I am at a point where I believe that the only answer is the total destruction of the public school system in favor of private schools. There is just no fixing the mess they have made.
