Michael Bloomberg uses George H. W. Bush’s death to criticize Trump

By Nick Givas

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg used the death of former President George H. W. Bush to criticize President Donald Trump on CNN’s “New Day” Wednesday.

“What was unique about George H. W. Bush was his honesty, his morals — his elegance, if you will. And I think unfortunately you contrast it with what we have in the White House now where the current president doesn’t seem to have any feeling of sacrifice for the good of the country. And maybe that’s one of the real differences,” Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg was visiting Iowa during the interview and was asked if he was laying the groundwork for a presidential run in 2020. Bloomberg shook off the rumors and said he was visiting Iowa to promote a climate change film.

“I’m here to preview a movie about climate change. It’s called ‘Paris to Pittsburgh.’ That’s why I’m here, to preview the movie,” he replied. “It has a segment about people from the great state of Iowa who are very environmentally friendly.”

Bloomberg said it’s nice people want him to run, but claimed he’s still not planning on a White House bid at this time.

“It’s very nice when somebody says that, and somebody does occasionally. And if it didn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know — you’ve got to be pretty sick,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean, number one, you should do it or could do it, and what I’ve said is I will look at it at the beginning of the year.”

“I want to understand what Iowa is all about. I want to learn. One of my chief associates says, ‘ask a question, make a friend,’ and so I want to know what makes Iowa tick,” Bloomberg continued.

Bloomberg also said former Vice President Joe Biden would be a “competent” choice for president before lauding his own experience and accomplishments.

“Joe Biden’s a guy who I’ve known for long time. He’s a very competent guy,” he said. “There’ll be 25 people or 20 people running on the Democratic side, all of whom I think would answer the question the same way if you asked it.”

“I can’t speak for anybody else. I do think that after 12 years in city hall dealing with international problems and security problems and economic problems and creating jobs and the environment and guns and women’s rights and tobacco and all of these things that I have a lot of experience,” Bloomberg added. ” … which would be useful if I was president of the United States. That doesn’t mean I’m going to run. It’s one thing to say something. It’s a different thing to have actually done it.”

  1. Well if his point was that they handle themselves very diffently in dealing with people as President, I agree. Republican or not I do wish we were more civil in our disagreements.

  2. Maybe ole Michael will institute “stop and frisk” for the entire USA. Man, is this guy sick.

  3. These liberals will use any platform they can get attention at to slam Trump. How shameful.
They are the nastiest bunch of people I have ever seen. They have no shame or morals.

  4. Michael Bloomberg……..anything to be in the spotlight, he’s gearing up for 2020 bid !!

Wonder, what skeletons are in his closet, time will tell ??

    • I’m sure somewhere women can be found going back into his HS years that could testify that MB molested them. How has he treated women in his businesses given all the years? Play the Dem sex card, it works. Perhaps do it at the last hour / day prior to nomination.
